Someone Cares at Freedom Church
Someone Cares is a national charity that links churches with healthcare chaplaincy services to help provide emotional, practical, and spiritual support to patients, their families and the wider healthcare community.
Freedom Church is involved with Someone Cares in three ways:
The Someone Cares Liverpool Hub
The Someone Cares Liverpool Hub brings together those across the Liverpool church community who wish to pray for and support healthcare chaplaincy in our city.
If you would like to get involved then please email Jenni at jennicalcraft@someonecares.co.uk to be added to the mailing list.
Someone Cares at Alder Hey
Freedom Church supports the work of the Alder Hey Spiritual Care Department to provide care to the families of children and young people who are admitted to the hospital. We do this in three ways:
1. Care Packs - We provide items that hopefully make an unplanned hospital admission a little easier: pyjamas for children who arrive without any and toiletry bags for the parents/carers, which contain the essentials for that first night in hospital.
2. Support – Spiritual Care is for those of all faiths, including those with no faith. We have a team of people from Freedom Church who are proud to be part of the Alder Hey family, volunteering with Spiritual Care to visit families on the wards - offering a listening ear, conversation and prayer if requested. Here are some of the faces you may meet if you would like a visit while you are in hospital.
3. Prayer - Freedom Church loves to pray for the families and staff at Alder Hey. If you have a specific prayer request then you can get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ page. You may also value spending time in the Chapel at Alder Hey, where you can spend some quiet time with God, light a candle and add a prayer to the prayer tree.
Alder Hey families
If you came to this page through an item that you received at Alder Hey then we are sorry that you are there and we are thinking of you.
If you feel able to make contact with the Alder Hey Spiritual Care team, they would love to visit you and offer a listening ear and some support. More information about the Spiritual Care provided by Alder Hey can be found here.
How can I connect with God?
God knows you and cares for your situation.
It is often during tough times that we turn to God, so we have put together the following resources to help you spend time with Him.
Here is a playlist of songs that you might find comforting to listen to. Songs can be particularly helpful at expressing our emotions when we can’t find the words ourselves.
Resources
